Jonathan Lindskoog: The work effort was located in Ellison Park in the area of the old discontinued Dugway road that runs parallel to the existing Browncroft Boulevard. The areas is full of steep glacial hills and the marshes due to the erosion of the Irondequoit creek and is full of trails. The work involved the cutting back of trails into the hill side so that hikers could walk safely on a level surface, the redoing of the trail marks, and the clearing of accumulated garbage. Where the trails crossed marshland, 40+ feet of elevated walk ways were constructed.
Colin Brennan: The work effort involved the removal of 12 bushes at Camp Haccamo located behind Panorama Plaza. These bushes blocked the view from the office to the main Recreational area. The effort took 2 long summer evenings and required the use a small tractor to provide lifting capacity. The bushes were deeply rooted and proved tenacious. A third night was required to cleanup what remained.
Dan Williams: The effort was in two places, both at the start of trail systems in Penfield. The first was located on a trail running alongside the Irondequoit Creek in the Channing Philbrick park, located off Rt. 441, just west of the intersection of Five Mile Line Rd. and Rt. 441. The second was located on a trail at the top of Harris Hill park, located off Rt. 441, just west of the intersection of Fairport Nine Mile Line Rd. and Rt. 441. The work involved building two gazebos at the tail heads that will hold information and the improvement of trails with markers. The gezebos were built as seperate roof and information board modules by using pressure treated materials. All pieces were then taken to the final install points and assembled to their posts and anchored into concrete.
Ben Robinson: The effort involves the renovation and improvement of a bridge located along the north bank of Irondequoit Creek in Penfield, New York on Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14, 2009. Over the years this bank of the creek has been gradually eroding, which caused the lifespan of the bridge structure to shorten. The focus of the project is to mitigate and prevent future erosion through the use of 3 gabion baskets. The stone was transported across a bridge upstream 150 feet with wheel-barrows and brought under the bridge, 8-9 tons of rock filling roughly 6 cubic yards were moved.
